ANDREW CARNEGIE
Andrew Carnegie: Giant of Industry, by Mary Malone. Garrard Publishing, HC library binding with illustrated front board. 96 pages, chapter book reading level. Traces the life of Andrew Carnegie from his boyhood in Scotland to his becoming one of the richest men in the world. And then young readers will watch him start giving his surplus money away to people who had helped him, people who had special needs he wanted to meet, and as pension money for his former mill workers. His goal was to wipe out ignorance and evils. One of his major accomplishments in this area was to fund the building over over 2,000 libraries. Before his death he set up the Carnegie Corporation to continue to manage his money and give it to worthy charities after his death. Good + condition. Very light edge wear with lightly bumped corners. A few very light pencil marks and a small faded red ink mark appear on back cover. Top end of spine is a bit bumped. Has usual library markings on spine and in book, pocket and date slip. BT#2348.$24.50-U

We're in the Pacific Time Zone We prefer you ask your questions about products
and availability by
e-mail, since that gives us more time to prepare a thoughtful answer and
keeps us from playing phone tag. Please remember to put our email address in
your address book if you have a spam filter or you won't ever get your answer
unless you also leave a phone number. We cannot usually tell you immediately over the phone if a
book is here. We have to walk two blocks to check the warehouse, so I usually
have to call you back or email you anyway. We do check our e-mail frequently
throughout the day when we are at home. If we should be out, and you leave a
message on our answering machine, we sometimes cannot hear the phone number
clearly to return your call. Those are some reasons why we recommend you email
us first. If you want us to call you, please leave your phone number and time
zone.
