Big Woods: This is set in the Wisconsin woods in the late 1870's. Laura

Prairie: Pa has sold the big house in the woods and the family sets out
for Indian country, traveling from Wisconsin to Kansas. There Pa builds a house
on the prairie, where farm life proves difficult, and sometimes even dangerous.

Almanzo Wilder is living on a big farm in New York State while Laua Ingalls is

the Prairie: The long winter is finally over, and Laura's social life
picks up in the spring with parties and "Literaries." But Laura also spends
hours each day making shirts to sell and help send Mary to a college for
