You may notice some of our titles have links to a shopping cart on our other web site that has a secure server.
This is  for your convenience. We process those orders ourselves and often lower the postage on multi-book and flip chart orders.
If you follow the link and get an error message that the title is no longer available, and the title is not a used or out of print book, it may mean we are currently out of stock or that we have temporarily put our listings on vacation because we can't ship for a few days. Even if a book is  on it's way or has just arrived in the warehouse it won't show on the e-commerce site until I've had time to update and upload the changes.
You can always email me to see when the book is expected back in stock or nudge me to get it back in stock right away.

Using This Catalog

Since we began listing our books on this site, our listing methods have changed. We had no data base and just started listing pages and describing our books. Our listings were put into subject categories and we added subjects and subcategories as we grew. This catalog is arranged that way -- by subject. The main subject categories are in alphabetical order on the left side of the page. Larger subject categories have a series of links to subcategories so if you know what you want, you can go to it immediately by clicking one of these links to browse. Book listings are usually in alphabetical order by title on each subject page.

For the past few years, I've been in the process of listing the books you see here in a database so they could be uploaded to my e-commerce site. Titles that are available for purchaseon one of my tomfolio sites, Barb'sTeachingHelp.com or Barb's People Builders on Tomfolio.com, will be marked with a number beside the price at the end of its listing. A BTH number or a BT number (usually for used books) means you can use the secure server at tomfolio to pay for it by credit card. Once a product has a BTH or BT number, I will gradually stop using the old price codes, since the other site will describe the books and indicate whether they are new or used. Most BT books are used. Some BTH books are used, but most were purchased new and have not been previously owned.

These are the old price codes:

B after a price indicates a budget book that gets no further discount.
D after a price indicates that the 10% discount has already been applied.
S after a price indicates a sale book (damaged or overstock) that gets no further discount.
* after a price indicates a book which does not qualify for a discount.
(It may be out of print and impossible to reorder, or a short-discount item,
or an item the publisher does not allow us to discount.)
U after a price indicates a used book.

When making inquiries or orders, it's important to include the title, whatever price code appears by the price, and the price itself. If you need a shipping quote, please include your full shipping address.

Most titles have live links to the shopping cart page where you can use a credit card to purchase them through my secure server, which is hosted on the tomfolio.com site, which also hosts my e-commerce version of this site, BarbsTeachingHelp.com. You can place your order safely there, but I process it -- not the site. Orders placed there have postage calculated by number of items, not by weight. This means that if your order is lighter than average, I will automatically lower the postage to my costs before I process it and ship it. It also means that if you order items that cannot be shipped media mail because of postal regulations, I might have to ask for additional shipping fees, which you would need to approve before I can process your order. Items which might fall into this category are non-book items such as flash cards, picture sets, games, boxed puzzles, or card sets. You can always contact me by email to get a quote, but I will also need your shipping address in that email to plug it into the sjipping software. I always try to give you the best shipping deal I can.

We receive a small commission from some links to third party sites with whom we have an affiliate relationship.

We're in the Pacific Time Zone
Our normal office hours when we answer the phone are 10: 30 AM - 4 PM Monday - Friday.
We answer email and ship at other times, but normally take Sundays off.
 You can fax your purchase orders to 805-237-8639, but it's good to follow up with a phone call in a couple of days to make sure we got it, if you did not receive a delivery confirmation email. Please include an email address with your purchase order in case we have questions and so we can send your delivery confirmation number to you.  You can also attach a signed purchase order to an email.

 We prefer you ask your questions about products and availability by e-mail (barbsbooks@sbcglobal.net), since that gives us more time to prepare a thoughtful answer and keeps us from playing phone tag. Please remember to put our email address in your address book if you have a spam filter or you won't ever get your answer unless you also leave a phone number. We cannot usually tell you immediately over the phone if a book is here. We have to walk two blocks to check the warehouse, so I usually have to call you back or email you anyway.  We do check our e-mail frequently throughout the day when we are at home. If we should be out, and you leave a message on our answering machine, we sometimes cannot hear the phone number clearly to return your call. Those are some reasons why we recommend you email us first. If you want us to call you, please leave your phone number and time zone.
When you do email us, please do not leave the subject blank or just say "Hi" or "Hello" as the subject. We delete those before opening because a lot of spam messages look like that.
