Five in a Row Cookbook

FIARcook.jpg (57929 bytes)In the  Five in a Row Cookbook, you'll find more than 180 recipes to share with your children-recipes relating to each of the 55 units found in Volumes 1-3 of Five in a Row and the first eight units of Beyond Five in a Row found in Volumes 1 and 2.

The Five in a Row Cookbook is far more than just recipes, however. This book is an interactive learning experience with areas for your children to record their own thoughts through drawings, photographs, writing and art. Your children will also be able to name each of the recipes themselves-uniquely titled for your family and the story unit you've studied together. Your Five in a Row Cookbook will become a unique, personalized family treasure filled with memories.

You'll also find sections on cooking, table manners, kitchen safety and much more. These aren't children's recipes like "Ants on a Log" (raisins on peanut butter-covered celery). These are interesting, delicious recipes to prepare with your children--recipes you'll enjoy as a family and want to share with friends.

The kitchen is where so much learning takes place within a family.  From planning through preparation to cooking and cleaning up afterwards, family meals offer a delightful opportunity to share, to teach and to enjoy the wonderful benefits of the homeschool lifestyle. Reinforce the wonderful Five in a Row and Beyond Five in a Row lessons each week as you gather your children around you and enjoy these extraordinary cooking experiences. Supply is limited to stock on hand. This is a real softcover book.

Five In a Row

FIVE IN A ROW is a unit study program designed for children ages four through eight by Jane Claire Lambert. It is based on outstanding children's picture books, and its lesson plans for social studies, language arts, art, math, and science suggest activities that will make learning enjoyable. Each book studied is read aloud for five days in a row, and each day the parent/teacher picks an appropriate activity from a different subject area for that day's lesson. Teachers' manuals come with instructions for making teaching manipulatives, a semester planning calendar, a master topical index, a literary glossary, story disks, and specific instructions for teaching the proven FIVE IN A ROW way. The best part of this program is the collection of books you will introduce to your children. Many are out of print and can only be found in libraries and used book stores.

Due to a change at Five in a Row, we cannot continue to sell any of their publications except what we currently have in stock. We will continue to sell the  books the supporting the curriculum that are in print. The books we have in stock for the curriculum guides have links to our e-commerce site where you can check their availability and order them on line.

You can buy curriculum guides we no longer have at Five in a Row's website, where they now have chosen to sell direct exclusively rather than through other suppliers.

It is similar to Five in a Row, only Beyond uses "chapter books" rather than "picture books."  Each book has creative writing or essay projects with every lesson, social studies including history, geography, human relationships, science, vocabulary, career path studies, internet connections and much, much more. All you'll need to add is daily arithmetic and the trio subjects grammar/spelling/penmanship. Everything else is included. We're in the Pacific Time Zone
Our normal office hours when we answer the phone are 10: 30 AM - 4 PM Monday - Friday.
We answer email and ship at other times, but normally take Sundays off.
You can fax your purchase orders to 805-237-8639, but it's good to follow up with a phone call in a couple of days to make sure we got it, if you did not receive a delivery confirmation email. Please include an email address with your purchase order in case we have questions and so we can send your delivery confirmation number to you.  You can also attach a signed purchase order to an email.

We prefer you ask your questions about products and availability by e-mail (barbsbooks@sbcglobal.net), since that gives us more time to prepare a thoughtful answer and keeps us from playing phone tag. Please remember to put our email address in your address book if you have a spam filter or you won't ever get your answer unless you also leave a phone number. We cannot usually tell you immediately over the phone if a book is here. We have to walk two blocks to check the warehouse, so I usually have to call you back or email you anyway.  We do check our e-mail frequently throughout the day when we are at home. If we should be out, and you leave a message on our answering machine, we sometimes cannot hear the phone number clearly to return your call. Those are some reasons why we recommend you email us first. If you want us to call you, please leave your phone number and time zone.
When you do email us, please do not leave the subject blank or just say "Hi" or "Hello" as the subject. We delete those before opening because a lot of spam messages look like that.
We have supplied a subject line in the link provided above that will guarantee your mail will be opened fast.
Or call (800)925-8587 (not before 10 AM or after 10 PM Pacific Time)
