You can send an e-mail to us, listing the books you'd like to order and your complete shipping address and we'll figure out the discounted cost and shipping cost for you and e-mail you back. We will also confirm whether the book is in stock. You can also call us at (800) 925-8587 if you want to order with a credit card. If you plan to call, it will save both of us time if you e-mail me first with your address and the books you are interested in so that I know it's written correctly and I can try to check availability before your call. I check my e-mail frequently throughout the day when I am in town. You can also fax school purchase orders, to (805) 237-9639. If the book you want has a BTH# by the price, you can order it directly from our e-commerce site. The link will take you to the main search box where you can locate the book by title and author. Or you can browse by category. Most titles with BTH numbers will have a title link you can click to get right to the product page on the e-commerce site where we use the secure tomfolio.com server. If a book is temporarily out of stock it will not show up and you can email me to see when the book is expected in. If you know exactly what you want and want to know if I have it or can get it, just e-mail me with the title you are looking for. I have many titles I have not have time to list yet, but I know what I stock and can get quickly. You can also use the search engine at the top of each page to search. It will return each instance of the words you search for on this web site. It's best to search an usual word, such as an author's last name or a specific subject, and it's best to leave out small common words such as "the," "a," "an," and other words which might be used very frequently. Normally you can click on the title links to get to the proper product page on either site for the book you want so you can put it in the shopping cart. If you order books from both sites on the same day, I will consolidate them into one shipping box and charge the same shipping as I would if they were ordered from the same site. I process all credit cards myself and they are not processed directly from the shopping carts by the site. That means I can combine the orders into one invoice and one shipping fee with one charge, as long as the books are being shipped to the same address.
At this time we do not have a paper catalog. All we have is our web catalog. If you don't have time to look at all the resources which might meet your needs, please email us with a description of the need you are trying to meet. If we have something that we believe will help you, we will cut and paste the verbal descriptions of the items into an e-mail with links to pages where you can find similar books or cover art and more detailed information. This saves you time on line. Keep in mind that these requests take more time to answer than requests about the availability of specific books, since we often need to go to the warehouse and look through several books before answering you, and we need to fill and ship existing orders first. We normally have to work on these kind of questions in the evenings after our daily shipping is done.
If you are not happy with something you receive from us, you may return it within 30 days of receipt, as long as it is still in sellable condition. Please let us know you will be returning it and why before mailing. If your item is damaged, please email us describing the damage, before returning the item. If you return something for any reason other than damage, we may charge a 10% restocking fee, subtracted from the purchase price before the refund. Be sure you ask all the questions you need to before placing your order. We will work with you to be sure the product will meet your needs.
Since we buy all of our books from the publishers, we cannot afford to send sample books. Only the publishers can afford to do this, and even they don't always do it. Since several people a day request samples, I think you can see that we wouldn't remain in business long if we gave away free materials we've had to pay for to all who ask. However, we do want you to be happy. Please see return policy above.
I wish I did, but our catalog on this web site is the only one we have. Occasionally we get catalogs from one of our publishers for distribution, and when we have these we normally send them out with orders that indicate the catalog or flyer might be useful to the person who made the order.
I want to make a school purchase order. How do I do that?
Use your regular school or district purchase order form. Estimate postage charges by allowing 10% (with a $4.46 minimum) for media mail (average 1-3 weeks, but has been known to take longer). Allow 20% with a $6.00 minimum for priority (2-3 days average) or UPS ground (seven business days average). These are estimates that should more than cover postage and handling in most cases unless you are ordering very thick books. I pick the cheapest way to ship within your time frame. I recommend the priority for states east of the Mississippi River. I will chose priority if your books will be shipped more economically in flat rate boxes than in one UPS box. I most often use UPS for large orders needed within 1-2 weeks for sure, and priority for orders of 1-9 average size books. 1-2 average size softcover books will go priority for $6.00. The larger box that holds up to about 8-9 average or small books is $11.75. Beyond that, UPS isoften a more economical option and usually gets to most schools in 7-10 business days. I cannot accept purchase orders from outside the United States that cannot be paid by credit card in American dollars. I cannot accept checks not drawn on American banks as payment. We answer email and ship at other times, but normally take Sundays off.
You can fax your purchase orders to 805-237-8639, but it's good to follow up with a phone call in a couple of days to make sure we got it, if you did not receive a delivery confirmation email. Please include an email address with your purchase order in case we have questions and so we can send your delivery confirmation number to you. You can also attach a signed purchase order to an email.
We prefer you ask your questions about products
and availability by
e-mail (email@example.com), since that gives us more time to prepare a thoughtful answer and
keeps us from playing phone tag. Please remember to put our email address in
your address book if you have a spam filter or you won't ever get your answer
unless you also leave a phone number. We cannot usually tell you immediately over the phone if a
book is here. We have to walk two blocks to check the warehouse, so I usually
have to call you back or email you anyway. We do check our e-mail frequently
throughout the day when we are at home. If we should be out, and you leave a
message on our answering machine, we sometimes cannot hear the phone number
clearly to return your call. Those are some reasons why we recommend you email
us first. If you want us to call you, please leave your phone number and time
When you do email us, please do not leave the subject blank or just say "Hi" or "Hello" as the subject. We delete those before opening because a lot of spam messages look like that.
