Homeschooler's
Plan Book Plus! by Imogene Forte and Marjorie Frank. Incentive, 2004.
This plan book has a unique, interactive, and friendly design which provides
weekly tips and quips to engage parent teachers and students alike. It has
everything a teaching parent needs for the entire school year, including some
creative teaching ideas and a bit of humor. There is also a 'word of the week"
feature which introduces a new word to learn every week. The format is home
school friendly, and instead of squares to divide each day of the week into
periods or subjects, the week's double-page spread is divided into five long
columns down the page -- one for each school day. This is great for unit studies
or spending more time on fewer subjects on one day and more time on different
ones the next day. The first few pages are designed to help you get organized,
set up an effective learning environment, and gather the supplies and materials
you will want to have handy (checklist is provided.) There is a resource file
for important phone numbers and web addresses, a study skills checklist, some
interesting dates to remember each month, and more. There are even stress
relievers for the teacher at the end. This may not have everything that the
super home school organizers have in those big binders that cost a fortune, but
you also get what you need to do the job without a lot of stuff you will never
use. I used to have two different models of the big binders, and felt a bit
guilty when I didn't have time to do everything they had space for. And this
book is one third of the price I paid for those big binders that were too big to
be handy to use. This is spiral-bound for easy use and storage. 96 pages. BTH-
