Worn through to boards on corners and ends of spine. Two words on one page underlined in ink. Otherwise in good condition. Discusses scientific progress in the fields of transportation, communication, shelter, food preservation, and clothing up though the time of publication. About 2-4th grade reading level. 6.50 (B)

Gods, Graves, and Scholars: The Story of Archaeology by C.W. Ceram. Hardcover, Knopf, 1967 Second, Revised, and Substantially Enlarged Edition. BCE. Hardcover, no jacket. Deckle edges, Very good except for light edge and corner wear. Translated from the German by Garside and Wilkins.441 pages, followed by index. Extensive Bibliography.  Written for laymen, this book is sure to fascinate those who are interested in the mysteries of ancient cultures. Adult reading level. BT #2209. $10.00-U (B)

The Capitol: A Pictorial History of the Capitol and of the Congress, 1979 Edition. Workbook size. 192 pages. Reading this book is like taking a guided tour of our nation's Capitol Building. I know because I took it. Cover is well-worn, inside is in pretty good condition. 2.50 (B)

The F.B.I. by Quentin Reynolds. Random House, 1954. Landmark Books #46. Forward by J. Edgar Hoover. Tells the history of the F.B. I up to its publication date and explains how its people were trained. It also shares the details of some of the F.B.I.'s most exciting cases and how they were solved. 181 pages including index. Condition: Reading copy. Green cloth-covered boards have wrinkled front and lightly worn corners and edges. Hinge is cracked between front end papers. Previous owner stamp on front free end paper. Other than that, pages are clean. BT-1915. $4.95-U

The Living Textbook: Using the Newspaper in the Classroom: Resources, Projects, and Activities by the editors of Knowledge Unlimited, 1998. Spiral binding. This guide for teachers uses the newspaper as a springboard for hundreds of classroom activities in the areas of social studies, language arts, math, and science. There are dozens of activities for each of these subjects. The activities are divided into three levels: Level One is for the elementary grades, Level Two for middle school grades, and Level Three is for the high school grades. You may discover some activities that are appropriate for more than one level. Some activities are designed for either classroom or individual use. But some involve individual research followed by a group discussion or project. At the end of each level in each subject area there are two reproducible activity sheets suitable for either class assignments or homework. Condition is very good: Bottom corner is bent at the tip. You will learn what a historian does and how to become one yourself. An excellent resource for any family which wishes to examine and record its own history. Blackline masters of charts and data sheets may be reproduced for classroom use. Overall, very good condition: Light wear to edges and corners of paper cover. Stapled wraps have small streaks of missing surface color near stapled edge on front. Text is clean and interspersed with black and white illustrations.  116 pages. BT-3227. 19.95 (A)

A good supplement to a secondary history curriculum. Hardcover, spine faded, and cover a little soiled. Otherwise in very good condition. Print is pretty small. 282 pages. 5.00 (B) OP

World Atlas of Archaeology, edited by Christine Flon. Forward by Michael Wood. Hardcover with dustjacket. Portland House, 1988, first printing thus. Very large format -- 10.5" x 14." This is an original global overview of the most recent (up to publication date) archaeological discoveries and conclusions, with special emphasis on the everyday life and customs of vanished civilizations. Beginning with Paleolithic human cultures the entries are organized chronologically and geographically up to the Renaissance. You will find in-depth coverage of more than 180 topics, divided into these geographical regions: The Western World, Islam and the Arab World, The Near East, Ancient Egypt, The Scythians and the Steppes, Central Asia, South East Asia, The Far East, Africa, The Americas, Oceania and Australasia, The Historical Period , and the Indian World. Our normal office hours when we answer the phone are 10: 30 AM - 4 PM Monday - Friday.
We answer email and ship at other times, but normally take Sundays off.

Please remember to put our email address in your address book if you have a spam filter or you won't ever get your answer unless you also leave a phone number. We cannot usually tell you immediately over the phone if a book is here. We have to walk two blocks to check the warehouse, so I usually have to call you back or email you anyway.  We do check our e-mail frequently throughout the day when we are at home. If we should be out, and you leave a message on our answering machine, we sometimes cannot hear the phone number clearly to return your call. Those are some reasons why we recommend you email us first. If you want us to call you, please leave your phone number and time zone.
When you do email us, please do not leave the subject blank or just say "Hi" or "Hello" as the subject. We delete those before opening because a lot of spam messages look like that.
